Can/should btSphereShape be used for 2D collisions?

Can/should btSphereShape be used for 2D collisions?

As the title asks, can/should btSphereShape be used for 2D (i.e. circle) collisions?

Do you need to change any collision algorithms to make sure it constrains itself to the xy-plane?

A btSphereShape should just work. Just limit the motion just like you do with other 2d shapes.
