Linearvelocity affecting angularvelocity

I am sure this is simple, but I can't see it!

If I have a linear velocity then to orientate myself to face that direction requires an angular velocity.
Basically as my linear velocity alters how do I get my angular velocity to match the direction velocity by applying angular velocity.

Any help appreciated.
