Support for Buoyancy

Post by Game_Ender »

I am currently using the Newton with Ogre through OgreNewt. The reason for this is because Newton supports buoyancy out of the box. All I have to do is tell it where the buoyancy plane is and the properties of the water. This is of course very useful in my submersible simulation.

Is there any plans for a similar solution for Bullet? I could not find anything in the docs or online about this except a forum post stating that buoyancy won't be in Blender 2.42.

Adding buoyancy is on the wishlist, but the todo list is large. Erin Catto has some sample code for buoyancy between convex and infinite plane on his gphysics website. It should be possible to integrate/mix this with Bullet.

Hope this helps,
