bullet in maya 2014 - rigids spinning around the origin?

Hi - this is my first post. I am using the Bullet plugin in Maya 2014. I am trying to destroy a castle. It is very big. I have made ~100 pieces of geo in Bullet. I am knocking them off the castle with an active rigid body sphere with initial velocity. Everything starts OK, but then the geo starts to spin around the origin/themselves, and make a big pile. There are not many controls in the plugin, and I don't have the extension that would let me use Maya fields, but I think I'm doing something wrong with Bullet, because this ought to be a pretty simple setup. Any advice/help appreciated.

I am not sure what is "geo" so I could be understanding this wrong but:

Try increasing the angular/linear damping of those rigid bodies that start to spin uncontrollably. You can also try increasing friction.

I am not sure how to do that in Maya, but using the bullet API it is pretty straightforward.
