ConvexDecompositionDemo equivalent

Post by tramblin »

(i've since found some additional terminology, "glue" fracture, and the ConvexDecompositionDemo...)

ok this appears to be what i am looking for:

http://code.google.com/p/bullet/issues/detail?id=90

so for anyone else looking at this problem i describe below, see the discussion above.

I tried to think of the proper terminology for this question, to search through these posts but couldn't get close

here is my question in real world speak... rather than bullet speak...

an example:

two Popsicle sticks are stuck together with "putty" to make a longer Popsicle stick.

I want to be able to push on one of the sticks so that, below certain force it just bends, above a certain force it breaks away and falls to the ground:

what is the proper terminology for this? and possible a small code snip? showing some of the calls to bullet that would be useful...

i thought of a compound shape, but then how would you get the second stick to fall to the ground? or even bend away?

anyway that is what i'd like to see how to do?

hmmm, now i've found a whole discussion on this: i'll read through it and see if i should just delete this post, and move to that one?
