Cloth Metal or Rigid body deformation

Post by 0camus0 »

Hi all, i need to know if there is soming like "static" deformation?

In all the demos of bullet featuring softbody, the body after being deformed always return to his
initial form, on Nvidia PhysX there is one demo called "Metal Cloth" simulating metal barrels that can
be permanently deformed. There is some way to do it with Bullet?

One thing that cross my mind is tuning the viscosity, but at the end will be at the same form again.

From my limited experience with the soft body dynamics, I don't think it is possible. You can adjust the stiffness of a soft body material, but as far as I can tell it doesn't have that much of an effect. The material always seems to be like very flexible, slightly stretchy rubber.

Hopefully someone will prove me wrong! Erwin, is the original developer still around to shed more light?
