Max values for friction, and damping

Post by kxxx_og »

Hi,

I was wondering if the friction value for a rigid body can be more than 1.0?
Is it taken into account, or is it clamped to 1.0?

I have the same question with damping values.
If I set linear damping to 200.0, then will it seriously try to stop the rigid body while it is in motion?

My sphere rigid body is at rest against the corner of two perpendicular walls.
Even though the sphere doesn't move, it keeps rotating very slowly.

How can I stop that from happening?

Friction value for the walls = 0.5
Friction value for the sphere = 1.0

Thanks

looking at the code for btRigidBody::setDamping(), it is indeed clamped to 0.0 - 1.0. Are you setting the angular damping too? That might help your slowly revolving sphere
