Large triangles

Post by Apat »

Hi!

According to this wikipage:
http://www.bulletphysics.org/mediawiki- ... ge_objects

No large triangles should be used, how large is the limit?

I was thinking of using (srtm) DEM files for my mesh, speaking in meters the grid resolution would be 90 meters.. Is that too large?

I'm guessing the limit has something to do with floating point limitations, correct?

I can at least confirm that SRTM-based meshes work very well in double precision mode. So if single precision doesn't work, you can try that.

The only problem I've seen with triangles of size 1000m or so, is that there was increased jitter for small objects.
