What about the btConeTwistConstraint? You use a quaternion to set the motor target. Wouldn't that be the 3DOF quaternion constraint you are talking about? If not, what would be the difference? I tried the btConeTwistConstraint and it will point to the direction set by a quaternion via setMotorTarget...

I guess then I have to find a clever way to control all three angles to match the rotation coming from a quaternion.

I am trying to use the btGeneric6DofConstraint with its motors too. Limits and rotational motors are working for me (haven't tried the translational ones). Basically all I did was setting maxMotorForce to 1, enabled the motor and set angularSleepingThreshold to 0 for the rigid body that is moved by ...
